Hi Everyone!
My name is Erin and I’m a graduate of a PA program in Washington, DC. I also completed a year-long Emergency Medicine post-graduate training program for APPs (Advanced Practice Providers = PAs and NPs), and am currently working at an ED (emergency department) in Florida.
This brain child came about after I spent a year applying and wishing I had more opportunity to learn from others who had been through this process. My process was crazy, with applying to 15 schools and getting 7 interviews, all while being a full time undergraduate student AND working full time. Now that I’m past that, I can sit back, relax (well not really), and offer up all of my bits of knowledge to others getting ready to apply! My goal was, and still is, to make a least one person’s application and interview process just a little bit easier.
Originally this blog stated out strictly as a resource for pre-PA students, however, the longer I spent in school, the more I realized I wanted to share more than just being a pre-PA or student. My life is made up of so many more pieces than just school or medicine, and it’s important people realize that being a student (or a medical professional) doesn’t mean it’s their entire life. I also found that I wanted to give advice based on my own struggles during PA school, and the things that I found that worked for me. Now as a certified PA, I have an even different insight from being “on the other side”.
I do have a tendency to go back and “purge” things as they get outdated, so if you’ve followed me for a while you’ll notice that some of my older posts have disappeared and then re-appear updated. I do my best to have things up to date, and the easiest way for me to avoid causing confusion is to remove outdated content!
I’m in love with medicine, my cat, and all things that glitter. I’m from the South (SEC is the only football conference that matters), pretend to run, and have an obsession with clothes that I never seem to wear. Hopefully you’ll enjoy this little look into my world.
I love to hear y’all’s opinions and ideas about posts, so please shoot me an email if there is something you’re dying for me to blog about! Or, if you have any questions that you think I would be able to answer, I am more than happy to!
xoxo,
Erin R.
